FAIRFIELD, CT –
Adel Al Masude (Brussels, Belgium/GO Lyceum Gent) assisted on all three Broncs goals, including
Regis Dulck's (Strasbourg, France/Univ. of Strasbourg) header off a corner in the 86
th minute, as the Rider University men's soccer team defeated Fairfield, 3-2, on the road Saturday night. With the win, the Broncs improve to 2-6-2 (1-1-1 MAAC), while the Stags fall to 5-7-0 (1-3-0 MAAC).
The Broncs opened the scoring at the 10-minute mark, with Al Masude threading the needle into the box, where
Guillaume Sarrabayrouse (Toulose, France/Pierre Paul Riquet) hit it on one touch inside the near, right post past Stags keeper James Anderson. The lead swelled to two goals as Al Masude's free kick from the right sideline found the head of
Lenny Cidolit (Montpellier, France/Montpellier Univ.), who headed it on inside the far, left post in the 29
th minute.
Fairfield would mount a comeback in the second half, however. Alex Oliveira scored twice in the 58
th and 78
th minutes to tie the game at 2-2. But presented with another set piece in the 86
th minute, Al Masude set up what proved to be the game-winning goal, finding the head of Dulck five yards in front of the goal line at the middle of the mouth of goal.
