JERSEY CITY, NJ –
Adel Al Masude (Brussels, Belgium/GO Lyceum Gent) and
Guillaume Sarrabayrouse (Toulose, France/Pierre Paul Riquet) each scored goals as the Rider University men's soccer team played Saint Peter's to a 2-2 tie on the road Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Broncs move to 2-8-6 (1-3-5 MAAC), while the Peacocks are now 2-10-4 (1-5-3 MAAC).
The Broncs wasted little time, scoring on Al Masude's third goal of the year in the 4
th minute. The Peacocks would battle back and equalize in the 32
nd minute on a Matt Hoyt goal and take the lead in the 58
th minute on a goal from Mikkel Fodstad. With just 23 seconds remaining in regulation, the Broncs were awarded a penalty kick that Sarrabayrouse converted on to salvage the point.
Notes
- Rider maintains its 24-14-3 lead in the all-time series. It marks the second-straight year that the two teams have played to a draw. Saint Peter's won the prior two meetings in 2018 and 2019. The Broncs' last win over Saint Peter's came in 2017.
- With the tie and other results around the MAAC today, the Broncs have been eliminated from MAAC Championship contention.
