LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University junior goalkeeper
Ellie Sciancalepore (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) has earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Week, the league office today announced. The honor, Sciancalepore's second of the season and third of her career, come following a pair of Broncs road wins at Mount St. Mary's and Marist to clinch Rider's 10
th-straight MAAC Championship berth.
Sciancalepore earned wins in each of the Broncs' games this week. She allowed just one goal at Mount St. Mary's, before shutting out Marist. On the week, she made seven saves, including five at Marist for her sixth shutout of the season. She now has 10 shutouts as a Bronc, ranking fifth all-time at Rider.
Sciancalepore's second MAAC honor of the year is the fifth of the year for Rider.
Camryn Dees earned MAAC Offensive Player of the Year on Sept. 26, following fellow senior
Makenzie Rodrigues (Seattle, WA/Forest Ridge) in taking the honor on Aug. 29.
Margret Fridriksson (Reykjavic, Iceland/The Commercial College of Iceland) was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on Aug. 22, while Sciancalepore's first honor of the year came on Aug. 29.
The Broncs return to action Wednesday, when they play host to Siena. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. With a win, the Broncs would clinch the No. 4 seed in the MAAC Championships and a quarterfinal home game on Sunday.
