Women’s Soccer Battles to Scoreless Draw at Mount St. Mary’s

EMMITSBURG, MD - The Rider women's soccer team (2-5-4, 0-3-2 MAAC) battled to a 0–0 draw at Mount St. Mary's (3-7-1, 1-4-1 MAAC) on Wednesday night.

The Broncs nearly struck early when Lauren Black forced a diving save from the Mount keeper in the third minute.

Mount answered with a pair of first-half chances, but freshman goalkeeper Ashley Moore was sharp, turning away both attempts to keep the match level.

Rider carried an 8–6 shot advantage into the half, including a 3–2 edge on goal.

The second half delivered plenty of chances for both sides.

Black sent a shot just over the bar just 15 minutes into the second half, while Moore came up with her biggest stop of the night in the 72nd minute, leaping to deny a strike from Taylor Simmons.

Noa Menzing nearly broke through minutes later in the 79th minute, but her curling shot was pushed aside.

The Broncs thought they had the winner late when Ava DeGeorge played a perfect ball into the box for Ava Ferrie, who headed it into the back of the net.

The celebration was cut short by a late offside flag.

Just a minute later, Moore came up big again in the 87th, turning away Mount's last push to lock up the scoreless result.

Quotes and Notes
"We played well tonight after a long bus ride and created some good opportunities. Credit to the Mount keeper for making a couple of really good saves. The defensive unit did a really good job, and when called upon, Ashley did everything she needed to do. It will be good to be playing at home on Saturday." - Rider Head Coach Drayson Hounsome

- Eight Broncs went the full 90 minutes: Ashley Moore, Ella Baumgardt, Aysu Unver, Bethie Morgan, Leah Marcell, Ava Ferrie, Isis Ovares, and Ava DeGeorge.
- Rider now sits at 4-2-3 all-time against Mount St. Mary's, with each of the last two meetings ending in draws.
- Corner kicks were nearly even, with Rider earning six to the Mount's seven.
- The draw marks the Broncs' fourth tie this season (two in the MAAC).
