LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Saint Francis (Pa.) scored off a corner kick in the 51
st minute to defeat the Rider University men's soccer team, 1-0, Sunday afternoon on Ben Cohen Field. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 1-2-1, while the Red Flash is now 1-1-0.
Following an evenly-played, scoreless first half that saw the Red Flash take a 6-5 edge in shots, but the Broncs holding a 2-0 advantage in shots on goal, Saint Francis broke the deadlock with the game's lone goal off a Jeff Thielman finish at the right post off an Alexios Rodriguez corner kick.
The Broncs developed several quality scoring chances the rest of the way, with two shots hitting the crossbar, another hitting the left post and still one more being blocked from point-blank range.
