OXFORD, OH – The Rider University field hockey team suffered its first setback of the season Saturday afternoon, falling to no. 21 Miami University, 3-1. The Broncs are now 3-1 on the season, while the RedHawks find the win column for the first time this season, moving to 1-3.
Following a scoreless first quarter, the RedHawks scored just over two minutes into the second. Miami would carry the advantage into the half.
Midway through the third quarter,
Carly Brosious (Drexel Hill, PA/Monsignor Bonner [Archbishop Prendergast]) tied the game with her third of the season, off an assist from
Julia Divorra (Terrassa, Spain/Vedruna Vall). The RedHawks would finally take control of the game early in the fourth, scoring twice in 35 seconds to take a lead they would not relinquish.
