Field Hockey Bounces Back With Win Over Georgetown

Tess van Ommeren and Kat Conroy each scored in the victory.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University field hockey team bounced back Friday afternoon, defeating Georgetown, 2-0, at Ben Cohen Field. The Broncs improved to 4-1 on the season, while the Hoyas fell to 2-2.

The Broncs struck early earning a corner in the game's opening minute. Julia Divorra (Terrassa, Spain/Vedruna Vall) made the insert to the top of the circle, where Tess van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Sint Nicolaas Lyceum) blasted a shot for her second of the season.

Early in the fourth, the Broncs struck again on the penalty corner. After Divorra made the high insert to van Ommeren, van Ommeren ripped a shot that was deflected by Kat Conroy (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) for her first of the season as the Broncs shut down the Hoyas offense for the remainder of the game.

"We've been focusing on our corners in practice and it showed today."

"A corner is always a good opportunity to get a shot in from up top, but we just want to play together and get the ball in the cage." Tess van Ommeren
