OXFORD, OH – The Rider University field hockey team scored early and often, cruising to a 5-1 victory over Bellarmine on Friday morning. The Broncs improve to 3-0 with the victory, while the Knights record is evened at 1-1.
Following a scoreless first quarter, the Broncs got on the board early in the second.
Carly Brosious (Drexel Hill, PA/Monsignor Bonner [Archbishop Prendergast]) found the back of the cage for the first time this season, scoring off an assist from
Tess van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Sint Nicolaas Lyceum).
Julia Divorra (Terrassa, Spain/Vedruna Vall) then found
Abby Hartwell (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Regional) to extend the lead going into the half.
In the second half, Brosious scored just under three minutes into the half to extend the lead further. Following a Bellarmine goal,
Tess van Ommeren scored her first of the seasonto take back the game's momentum. The Broncs added an insurance goal in the fourth quarter with Hartwell scoring her second of the game off a Brosious assist.
