Field Hockey Drops Game at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Rider University field hockey team succumbed to an offensive explosion by Drexel Sunday afternoon, falling 4-3. The Broncs fall to 5-2 on the season, while the Dragons improve to 2-6.

The Dragons scored three goals in the game's first five minutes, taking a lead they would not relinquish.

Early in the second, Kat Conroy (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) got the Broncs on the board, scoring her second of the season. The Dragons held the 3-1 lead into the half.

Following a penalty corner early in the third quarter, Carly Brosious (Drexel Hill, PA/Monsignor Bonner [Archbishop Prendergast]) found the back of the cage, drawing the Broncs back within a single goal.

Late in the fourth, the Dragons found an insurance goal that would come in very handy as Brosious would score her second of the contest in the game's final minute.

Quotes & Notes
"When you're not ready to play a team like Drexel, they'll make you pay for it. We are so much better than that."

"If we can clean up the errors and and keep the ball out of our circle we'll be tougher to beat. Drexel was physical and beat us to the 50/50 balls. The silver lining is that we came back and made it a game." - Head coach Lori Hussong

- Drexel extends its lead in the all-time series to 15-10-2.
Carlee Fulton (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) came off the bench and make six saves while allowing just a single goal across 55 minutes of action.
- Brosious' pair of goals gives her 30 for her career.
- Kiera Guckavan (Middletown, PA/Middletown Area), Abby Hartwell (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Regional), Tess van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netharlands/Sint Nicolaas Lyceum), Brosious, Julia Divorra (Terrassa, Spain/Vedruna Vall), and Maeve Riehman (Norristown, PA/Archbishop Carroll) played all 60 minutes in the game
