What You Need To Know
- Friday morning's season opener will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Saturday's match can be seen on FloVolleyball.
- The Broncs were picked to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll after winning the conference tournament as the four-seed a season ago. The team received a pair of first-place votes.
- The Broncs reached the main draw of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1994 last season.
- Rider returns the MAAC Player of the Year and AVCA All-America honorable mention
Morgan Romano (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty) at opposite and MAAC co-Setter of the Year
Anilee Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill). The duo was selected to the preseason All-MAAC Team.
- Romano led the Broncs with 185 kills in 11 matches. An all-around performer, she also added 2.21 digs per set and 19 service aces. She finished the regular season with a season-high 24 kills in the MAAC Championships Match against Canisius.
- Sher enters the 2021 season with 2,715 career assists, fifth-most in program history. Her 1,136 assists in 2019 are the second-most in a single season for the Broncs.
- Head Coach
Jeff Rotondo was named MAAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Broncs to the MAAC Championship. He enters his third season with a 22-21 career record at Rider.
- Rider trials the all-time series against Temple (9-0), Villanova (5-0), and Delaware (13-4). The Broncs have not played any of these teams since the 2011 season.
- Temple finished the 2020-21 season with an 11-6 record, while Villanova and Delaware both went 4-6 in the spring season.
- Rider returns five starters from last season's team. In addition to Romano and Sher,
Caprice Clarke (Toronto Canada/Blyth Academy [Yorkville]),
Morgan Koch (Bloomington, IL/Central Catholic), and
Jenna Amaro (Davie, FL/Archbishop McCarthy) will be back in the Broncs' lineup.
- Clarke led the Broncs and ranked 66
th nationally with a hitting percentage of .352 last season.
