Women's Soccer Clinches MAAC Quarterfinal Home Game With 1-0 Win Over Saint Peter's

Broncs to host fifth-seeded Manhattan Friday at 4 p.m.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Hailey Russell (Riverside, NJ/Riverside) scored the game-winning goal in the 31st minute as the Rider University women's soccer team defeated Saint Peter's, 1-0, Tuesday night on Ben Cohen Field. With the win, the Broncs (3-1-2) clinched the No. 4 seed in the MAAC Championships and a home game against fifth-seeded Manhattan on Friday at 4 p.m. The Peacocks end their season at 0-4-0.

In the 31st minute, Lindsey Maslow (Hanover, MA/Hanover) crossed from the left corner in front to Russell, who shot inside the right post for what proved to be the game winner.

Freshman goalkeeper Ellie Sciancalepore (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) made five saves in securing her first-career clean sheet.

Quotes & Notes
"It's never an easy game plan for Saint Peter's. First half wasn't great, but I thought we did better in the second half. Maybe could've had two or three other chances, but it wasn't to be. So, getting a shutout, 1-nil win, seniors getting the win on Senior Day is nice, securing a home playoff game again, which is nice. First shutout for Ellie, seeing Hailey score. So, hopefully we'll have some more healthier bodies on Friday. But overall, a positive night."  – Rider Head Coach Drayson Hounsome

- Sciancalepore (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) made five saves in the win. It was her sixth-straight match to begin her career with five or more saves.
- Camryn Dees (Pickerington, OH/Pickerington H.S. North), Niamh Cashin (Nottingham, England/All Saints Academy), Cameron Santers (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills), Kaitlyn Siciliano (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat), Russell and Sciancalepore each played all 90 minutes.
- Rider played its second-straight game without the services of leading scorer Makenzie Rodrigues (Seattle, WA/Forest Ridge), who's tallied five goals so far this season.

- Rider finishes tied for third in the MAAC Standings with Monmouth. The Hawks took the No. 3 seed by virtue of a head-to-head win last Tuesday.
