LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Senior
Madeleine Tarin (Eastvale, CA/Chino Hills) scored the game winner and added an assist, both in the second half, as the Rider University women's soccer team defeated Manhattan, 3-1, Saturday afternoon on Ben Cohen Field. With the win, the Broncs improve to 2-1-2, while the Jaspers fall to 3-2-0.
Freshman
Jenny Skrumbis (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) scored her first collegiate goal with a strike from the top, right of the 18-yard box to beat the Manhattan keeper in the 19
th minute.
Up 1-0 after the first half, the Broncs pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 57
th minute as Tarin headed in a
Camryn Dees (Pickerington, OH/Pickerington H.S. North) corner kick. The lead extended to 3-0 in the 73
rd minute as Tarin crossed to
Lindsey Maslow (Hanover, MA/Hanover). Maslow's shot from a tough angle at the right post was caught by Manhattan goalkeeper Kim Mains over her head, but her momentum pushed her over the goal line for the Rider score, also the first of the Broncs' sophomore's career.
Manhattan would score in the 79
th minute, as Bri Floyd crossed to Lindsey Healy for the finish. But the Broncs would finish off the 3-1 victory.
