LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Freshman
Guillaume Vacter (Moisselles, France/Ecole privee ASNL) scored his first goal as a Bronc to send the Rider University men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over defending MAAC Champion Iona Thursday afternoon on Ben Cohen Field. With the win, the Broncs move to 2-0, while the Gaels (0-1) fell in their season opener.
Following a scoreless first half, the Broncs broke the deadlock in the 54
th minute off a free kick.
Taner Bay (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) sent a free kick from the midfield to the far, right post, where Vacter headed it down past Iona goalkeeper Gabriel Cinanni for the game winner.

Pablo Gatinois (Madrid, Spain/Lycee Francais de Madrid [Oregon State]) made three saves and the Broncs' defense posted its second-consecutive clean sheet to begin the season.
