HAMDEN, CT –
Christian Ings (Philadelphia, PA/Neumann-Goretti) scored a team-high 12 points and
Tyrel Bladen (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) and
Rodney Henderson, Jr. (Carson, CA/Avon Old Farms [CSUN]) added 11 points apiece, but the Rider University men's basketball team was defeated by Quinnipiac, 93-68, Sunday afternoon at People's United Center. With the weekend sweep, the Bobcats move to 8-9 (6-7 MAAC), while the Broncs drop to 4-13 (4-10 MAAC).
The Bobcats never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 9-2 lead in the early going. Rider close to within one at 9-8 on consecutive three-pointers, but could never wrestle away the lead. Quinnipiac outscored Rider, 26-7, over the final seven minutes of the first half to take a 55-30 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Rider scored the first four points of the second half to get to within 21, but that was the closest the Broncs could get. Quinnipiac built its lead to as many as 38 points midway through the second half.

Broncs by the Numbers
- Ings made 4-of-7 from the floor, including 1-of-2 from long range and 3-of-5 from the free-throw line. It was his seventh double-figure output of the season and his second of the weekend, having also scored 12 points yesterday against the Bobcats.
- Bladen matched his career high's of 11 points and nine rebounds, both established in a Dec. 11 win at Manhattan. He made 3-of-5 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line Sunday.
- Both Henderson and
Jeremiah Pope (Clinton, NC/Clinton [Brunswick C.C.]) made 3-of-6 three-point attempts. Henderson also added a pair of free throws to finish with 11 points, while Pope had nine. Henderson also dished out a team game-high and career-high five assists, while also grabbing six rebounds.
