NEW ROCHELLE, NY –
Jaelen McGlone (Cheltenham, PA/Cheltenham) led the Broncs with 11 points and five rebounds, but the Rider University men's basketball team fell at defending MAAC Champion Iona, 80-54, Friday night at the Hynes Athletic Center. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 3-7 (0-1 MAAC), while the Gaels improve to 8-2 (2-0 MAAC).
After the Broncs jumped out to leads of 4-0 and 6-3, Iona used separate runs of 10-0 and 12-0 to build a lead of as many as 21 points on a Colton Cashaw three-point play at the 1:42 mark.
Dimencio Vaughn (New York, NY/Callaway/The Masters School [Ole Miss]) and
Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson (Delta State, Nigeria/Monsignor Bonner) led the Broncs with six points apiece in the first half. The Iona lead would swell to as many as 30 points in the second half.
