Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls at MAC Favorite Buffalo

McKeithan scores season-high 13 points

BUFFALO, NY – Corey McKeithan (Windsor, CT/Windsor) led the Rider University men's basketball team with a season-high 13 points, but the Broncs fell at Mid-American Conference favorite Buffalo, 87-65, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 2-3, while the Bulls are now 2-1.

Rider and Buffalo traded punches early, with the Broncs scoring seven of the first nine points, before the Bulls answered with a pair of Jeenathan Williams three's to retake the lead. After Mervin James (St. Thomas, USVI/Pebblebrook [North Alabama]) answered with a bucket for a 9-8 Rider lead, Buffalo slowly built a lead of as many as 11, 31-20, with just under four minutes remaining in the half. A pair of McKeithan drives in the final minute of the period helped trim the deficit to six, 39-33, at the half.

After a pair of Williams free throws to open the second half, Dwight Murray, Jr. (Austell, GA/Pebblebrook [North Alabama]) knocked down a three and Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson (Delta State, Nigeria/Monsignor Bonner) connected on a jumper to cut the deficit to three. But Buffalo responded with a 7-0 run and 12 of the next 14 to rebuild a double-digit advantage. The Bulls' lead would swell to as many as 29 late in the period, including a stretch in which Buffalo went on a 16-0 run.
