Wrestling Hosts MAC Opponent Northern Illinois Saturday Night

What You Need To Know
- The Rider University wrestling team hosts Northern Illinois for the first conference dual of the season Saturday night on ESPN+.
- The Broncs and the Huskies met for the first time in 2014 where the Broncs came away with a 28-9 victory. The most recent meeting occurred in 2019, where the Broncs came away with a 26-6 victory. The dual Saturday would be just the third meeting between the two teams.
- Rider looks to bounce back after their 33-3 loss to Purdue to start the season.
- Joe Casey won his dual at 165 in his return to the mat when the Broncs faced the Boilermakers.
- John Hangey returns for his fifth season as head coach and has accumulated a 37-14 record in his short time as head coach, including a win against The University of Minnesota, who were ranked #6 at the time.
- During an abbreviated 2020-2021 season, the Broncs went 4-1 overall, and 2-0 in the MAC before heading to MAC Championships and the NCAA Championships.
- Rider finished second in the MAC last year. 
- Intermat has named Quinn Kinner (Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway [Ohio State]) and Matt Correnti (Delran, NJ/Holy Cross [Rutgers]) to the All-MAC Second Team.
- Intermat ranks Richie Koelher (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) as #29 in 133 lbs, Quinn Kinner (Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway) as #23 in 141 lbs, Jake Silverstein (Hauppauge, NY/Smithtown) as #31 in 157 lbs, and Matt Correnti (Delran, NJ/Holy Cross Academy [Ohio State]) as #29 in 197 lbs.
- Wrestlestat also ranks the Broncs as #57 for dual meets and Northern Illinois as #37
- At the 2020-2021 NCAA Championships, the Broncs finished in 20th place, totaling 22.0 points.
