Quotes & Notes
"We had a decent little run. I counted 50 calendar days and only three losses in that time. After the La Salle game, we had a decent little run, worked our way up to second place in the conference. No excuses, just answers – we had some key guys missing today and also, I thought we were very tired. I saw a very tired team out there. We've just got to regroup." –
Rider Head Coach Charlie Inverso
- Prior to the game, the Broncs honored their seven seniors –
Sergio Aguinaga (Madrid, Spain/Antonio Dominguez Ortiz),
Taner Bay (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas),
Pablo DeCastro (Madrid, Spain/Universidad Francisco de Vitoria), Gatinois,
Francisco Gomez Olano (Cadiz, Spain/Univ. of Cadiz),
Tyrrell Moore (Brooklyn, NY/Elisabeth Irwin [Wake Forest]) and
Alejandro Perez (New Milford, NJ/New Milford) – on Senior Day.
- Siena evened the series with Rider at 12-12-5 all-time. The Broncs had won three-straight against Siena and owned a 7-1-1 record against the Saints since 2014. The lone loss in the span came in 2017 in Loudonville. The Broncs hadn't lost to Siena in Lawrenceville since 2012.
- Gatinois made one save in defeat.
- The Broncs were shut out for just the fourth time this season, the second in conference play.
- With one game remaining in league play, the Broncs have clinched at least the No. 6 seed in the MAAC Championships and can still claim a share of the MAAC Regular Season Championship with a win Wednesday at Manhattan and a Fairfield win at home against Marist. The scenario would create at least a three-way tie for first, with Saint Peter's also in play for a potential four-way tie, should the Peacocks defeat Quinnipiac at home. Should a tie of three or more teams happen, goal differential in MAAC games is the tie-breaker, with Marist (+9) currently enjoying the advantage over Saint Peter's (+4), with Rider and Fairfield both at +3.
- Seven of eight MAAC Championship berths have been claimed, with Quinnipiac and Manhattan competing for the final position. Quinnipiac entered the day a point behind the Jaspers before defeating Manhattan, 4-1, to jump ahead into eighth place.
- Manhattan needs a win over Rider Wednesday, as well as a Quinnipiac loss at Saint Peter's to take the eighth, and final, MAAC Championship berth.
- Five yellow cards were shown in the game – three to Siena and two to Rider.
- The Broncs were playing without back
Lenny Cidolit (Montpellier, France/Montpellier Univ.) and midfielder
Matt Araujo (Fords, NJ/Saint Joseph) due to suspension for card accumulation.
- Gatinois, Bay, Gomez Olano and Moore each played all 90 minutes.
