Fourth-Quarter Comeback Bid Falls Short for Women's Basketball at Siena

Box Score LOUDONVILLE, NY – A fourth-quarter comeback fell short for the Rider University women's basketball team at Siena on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints (1-2, 1-2 MAAC) held off a frantic push from the Broncs (1-11, 0-7 MAAC) over the final 10 minutes to score a 73-64 victory.
 
Trailing by as many as 19 midway through the third, Rider rallied to make it a two-possession game late in the fourth quarter. The Broncs used a 12-0 run that stretched from 3:27 in the third until over six minutes into the fourth.
 
The Broncs held Siena scoreless for nearly 10 minutes (9:52) of game time as a three from Lenaejha Evans (Conway, SC/Conway [Pensacola St. College]) brought the guests to within six at 61-55 with three and a half minutes left in the game.  
 
Less than two minutes later, Evans took a feed from senior Daija Moses (Toronto, Ontario/Henry Street) and scored to bring the Broncs to within four at 65-61. The Saints responded by scoring the next six points to take a 10-point lead with under 10 seconds left in the game.
 
It was a balanced offensive attack for Rider as a season-high four Broncs scored in double figures. Sophomore guard Maya Hyacienth (Nottingham, UK/City of London Academy) had a team-high 12 points, while Evans, Makayla Firebaugh (Winchester, VA/James Wood) and Victoria Toomey (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore) each poured in 11 points apiece.

- The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Broncs against the Saints.

- Evans had 11 off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting.
- Daija Moses had nine points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Siena and Rider conclude a weekend of MAAC play on Sunday, January 10, with opening tip slated for 1:00 pm.
