Dimencio Vaughn (New York, NY/Callaway/The Masters School) led the Rider University men's basketball team with 24 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three blocks, but the Broncs were defeated by hOURglass Rival Saint Peter's, 73-54, Sunday afternoon at the Yanitelli Center. With the loss, the Broncs slip to 15-12 (9-8 MAAC), while the Peacocks improve to 15-11 (12-5 MAAC).
After the Broncs scored the first eight points of the game, Saint Peter's responded with an 18-1 run to build an 18-9 lead. The advantage would swell to 10 on a Quinn Taylor three-pointer at the 4:17 mark, while the Broncs made seven of their last eight free-throw attempts in the period to cut the deficit to 31-24 at the break. Vaughn led the Broncs with 16 points, five rebounds and three steals at the half.
Rider closed to within two on a
Kimar Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Constitution [Florida International] drive at the 12:38 mark of the second half. But the Peacocks scored 18 of the next 20 points, including 16 from Doug Edert, to build a 60-42 lead and push the game out of reach for the Broncs. Edert hit three of his seven three-point field goals in the span.

- Rider leads the all-time series with Saint Peter's, which dates back to the 1942-43 season, 38-31. The Peacocks' win snapped a three-game Rider winning streak in the series.
- With Sunday's results around the MAAC, Rider remains in fourth place at 9-8 in the league. Saint Peter's is in first place at 12-5, while Siena is a game back in the win column at 11-5. Monmouth is in third at 10-6, while the Broncs stand a game up in the win column over Iona (8-8). Manhattan, Quinnipiac, Niagara and Fairfield are tied for the next spot, all at 7-9.
- The Broncs return to action Friday, when they play host to hOURglass Rival Monmouth. The game at Alumni Gymnasium will be nationally-televised on ESPNU at 9 p.m.

- Vaughn hit 7-of-15 attempts from the floor and all 10 of his free-throw attempts. His two assists also tied Williams for the team high on the day.

- Saint Peter's outshot Rider, 39.7 percent (23-58) to 35.3 percent (18-51) from the floor, including a 28.6 percent (8-28) to 11.1 percent (2-18) margin from long range.
- The Peacocks outrebounded Rider, 36-32. It marked just the seventh time this season that Rider has bene outrebounded.
