Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Falls at Home to Drexel

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's basketball team lost to Drexel, 62-49, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action inside Alumni Gymnasium.

The Dragons (1-0) erased a double-digit, first-quarter deficit to rally past the Broncs (0-2).

After scoring the first basket of the contest, Drexel fell into a 11-point deficit as senior Daija Moses (Toronto, Ontario/Henry Street) scored in the post to give the hosts a 13-2 edge with just under four minutes left in the opening frame. Following that bucket, the Dragons responded with a 14-0 run to take a 16-13 edge three minutes into the second quarter.

The Broncs and Drexel would battle throughout the second and third quarters with the teams trading the lead. The guests ended the third quarter on a 7-0 run and held Rider to just one made field goal in the fourth quarter to pull out the come-from-behind victory.

It was a balanced offensive attack for the Broncs with four players scoring seven or more points. Junior point guard Amanda Mobley (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) scored a team-high 13 points for Rider, while Raphaela Toussaint (Kingston, Ontario/Lincoln Prep) chipped in a career-high 11 points to go along with seven rebounds off the bench for the Broncs.

QUOTES & NOTES
"Obviously we are disappointed we did not get the home win today. We started off the game well, but we could not sustain it. We saw some better possessions at both ends of the floor, but need to continue to gain our consistency and confidence. We will continue to grow with this young group and improve as we go." - Rider Head Coach Lynn Milligan

- Drexel leads the all-time series with the Broncs, 21-9. The two teams were meeting for the first time in the Lynn Milligan Era. The last meeting came in December of 2004.
- Rider has lost three of its last four home openers.
- Rider shot over 44 percent (4-of-9) from three-point range.
- The Broncs scored 10 of their 12 points in the fourth quarter at the foul line.
