LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's basketball team dropped a home non-conference clash against Army, 70-55, on Wednesday evening inside Alumni Gymnasium.
The Cadets (2-1) shot over 48 percent (14-of-29) from the floor in the second half to pull away from the Broncs (0-3).
Rider started strong for the second straight game, knocking down six three-pointers in the first half. Junior point guard
Amanda Mobley (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) capped the scoring during the opening 20 minutes with a trey as the two squads entered the break tied at 29.
The Cadets opened the third quarter on an 8-0 run over the first four minutes to take a lead they would not surrender. In third, freshman
Makayla Firebaugh (Winchester, VA/James Wood) scored five of Rider's 12 points.
The Broncs pulled to within three midway through the fourth following a three from Mobley to make it 53-50. Army answered with six straight points to stretch the lead back to nine. Down the stretch, the Cadets hit their free throws to earn the hard-fought win.

BRONCS BY THE NUMBERS
- Mobley scored in double figures for the 16th time in her career and the third straight game. She had a team-high 14 points to go along with six rebounds, four assists and one block.
- Off the bench, Firebaugh had a career-high eight points. She also added four rebounds and two blocks, both of which were career-bests as well.
- In her first career start,
Raphaela Toussaint had nine points and four rebounds. She knocked down 4-of-6 from the field.

Sofie Bruintjes had a career-night for the Broncs. She set new career-bests in minutes played (20), points (6), rebounds (3) and assists (1).
