WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- All remaining Rider basketball games in 2019-20 will air on ESPN+ or ESPN3, with the exception of the January 9th contest against Quinnipiac that will air on ESPNU.
Â
- The Bobcats enter Thursday's matinee with a 4-7 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play after defeating Siena, 66-52, in the Empire State last time out. It is a two-headed attack for Quinnipiac with both Shaq Edwards and Paige Warfel averaging in double figures. Edwards is averaging over 15 points per game for QU, but she has missed the last two games. Warfel is one of just two players in the MAAC averaging a double-double this year (10.1 PPG and 10.3 RPG). In two league games, Warfel has averaged 16 points and 14 rebounds per contest. As a team, Quinnipiac is shooting 39 percent from the field. The Bobcats have won three of their last four games. And 57 of their last 58 MAAC games.
Â
- Quinnipiac has won all 15 meetings against the Broncs in the all-time series history. The Bobcats outlasted the Broncs, 66-60, in Lawrenceville last season in the most recent meeting between the two squads.
Â
- Last time out,
Stella Johnson scored a game-high 24 points and became the program's all-time leading scorer as Rider raced past Iona, 81-37 in MAAC play. The Broncs shot a season-high 53.8 percent from the field in the victory as three players scored in double figures.
Â
-
Stella Johnson passed Debbie Snyder '94 on the program's all-time scoring list. On Rider's second possession of the game, Stella drove to the basket for the record-breaking bucket. She currently has 1,730 points. Earlier this season, she became the 23rd player in the history of the MAAC to score over 1,700 career points.
Â
- Rider's 44-point victory over Iona was the largest margin of victory for the Broncs under Head Coach Lyn Milligan. It marked the most lopsided win for Rider since the team beat Fairleigh Dickinson by 47 points in January of 1995.
Â
- Rider had its strongest defensive effort of the season versus the La Salle. The Broncs held the Explorers to just made eight made field goals and 16 percent shooting, while forcing 18 La Salle turnovers. The eight made field goals are the fewest allowed in a game under Head Coach
Lynn Milligan and the 16 percent was the lowest the Broncs have held an opponent shooting under Milligan as well.
Â
- Rider is 9-2 for the first time since the 1993-94 season. It marks just the second time the Broncs have won nine of their first 11 games since joining Division I prior to the 1982-83 season.
Â
- Rider is a perfect 4-0 at home this season. The team has won its first four home contests of the year for the first time under Milligan and the first time since the 1998-99 campaign. The Broncs have not started 5-0 at home since the 1996-97 season.Â
Â
- Rider is in the midst of a six-game winning streak. It is the second time this season that the Broncs have reeled off more than three straight victories. The six-game winning streak marks the most consecutive wins for Rider since the team had a nine-game winning streak during the 2016-17 season.

It marked the first time in program history that a Bronc was named the USBWA National Player of the Week and also the first time a player from the MAAC picked up the weekly accolade as well. Stella is one of just two active players in all of Division I, along with Princeton's Bella Alarie, to be have earned both USBWA National Player of the Week and USBWA National Freshman of the Week honors in their careers.
