HAMDEN, CT –
Dimencio Vaughn (New York, NY/Callaway/The Masters School) scored a team-high 18 points, but the Rider University men's basketball team fell at Quinnipiac, 80-61, Tuesday night at Peoples United Bank Center. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 8-5 (2-1 MAAC), while the Bobcats are now 7-5 (2-0 MAAC).
Quinnipiac came out hot from long range, with seven of its first eight made field goals coming from beyond the arc. Rider fought back from the interior, with a 20-12 edge in points in the paint in the first half. But the Bobcats ended the period on a 13-3 run to take a 40-29 advantage into the locker room.
Vaughn got inside for a lay-up on the Broncs' first possession of the second half and scored the Broncs' first nine points of the period. But he picked up three quick fouls and was out of the game with 11:56 remaining. The Bobcats' lead fluctuated between nine and 18 points for much of the second half, with Rider pulling to within nine on a
Frederick Scott (Munster, IN/Simeon [DePaul]) three-pointer with 6:03 remaining. But Quinnipiac scored 10 of the next 11 points and pushed the advantage to its largest point, the 19-point lead at final horn.

- Rider leads the all-time series with Quinnipiac, 12-4. The Bobcats have won the last two meetings, both in Hamden.
- Vaughn led the Broncs in scoring for the third-straight game.

Stevie Jordan (Bensalem, PA/Conwell-Egan/API) did not play in the final 16:59. A third starter, Vaughn, fouled out with 11:56 remaining, while a fourth,
Christian Ings (Philadelphia, PA/Neumann-Goretti) played just 3:17 in the second half.
- Rider resumes Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Friday, when it plays host to Iona at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
