Â
- The Red Foxes enter Thursday's contest with an 11-2 overall record and a perfect 4-0 mark in conference play. Marist is in the midst of a six-game winning streak and all six of those victories have come by double digits. It is a three-headed attack for Marist with Rebekah Hand, Alana Gilmer and Grace Vander Weide all averaging in double figures. Hand is pouring in over 18 points a game, while Gilmer is adding 17 and Vander Weide is dropping over 12 points per contest. All three players are shooting over 50 percent from the field this season and Vander Weide leads the MAAC in assists with over five dimes per tilt. As a team, Marist leads the MAAC in seven different statistical categories. The Red Foxes rank first in the league in scoring offense (75.1 PPG), scoring margin (+11.8), field-goal percentage (.483), three-point field-goal percentage (.363), made three-pointers per game (8.2), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.50) and assists per game (19.5). Marist was tabbed as the MAAC preseason favorite and the Red Foxes are currently ranked #6 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll.
Â
- Marist leads the all-time series 43-17. The Red Foxes eliminated the Broncs from the MAAC Tournament in the Semifinals. Rider has swept the regular-season series with Marist in two of the last three seasons. The two teams have not split a regular-season series since the 2002-03 campaign.Â
Â
- Last time out, three players scored in double figures led by
Stella Johnson's game-high 25 points as Rider defeated Quinnipiac, 75-59, in a nationally-televised contest last Thursday. The win was the first-ever for the Broncs against the Bobcats and it ran Rider's winning streak to seven games.
Â
-
Stella Johnson passed Debbie Snyder '94 on the program's all-time scoring list versus Iona. On Rider's second possession of the game, Stella drove to the basket for the record-breaking bucket. She currently has 1,755 points. Earlier this season, she became the 23rd player in the history of the MAAC to score over 1,700 career points.
Â
- Rider's 44-point victory over Iona was the largest margin of victory for the Broncs under Head Coach
Lynn Milligan. It marked the most lopsided win for Rider since the team beat Fairleigh Dickinson by 47 points in January of 1995.
Â
- Rider had its strongest defensive effort of the season versus La Salle. The Broncs held the Explorers to just made eight made field goals and 16 percent shooting, while forcing 18 La Salle turnovers. The eight made field goals are the fewest allowed in a game under Head Coach
Lynn Milligan and the 16 percent was the lowest the Broncs have held an opponent in shooting under Milligan as well.
Â
- Rider is 10-2 for the first time since the 1993-94 season. It marks just the second time the Broncs have won 10 of their first 12 games since joining Division I prior to the 1982-83 season. Rider is looking to match its best-ever 13-game start to the season (11-2).
Â
- Rider is in the midst of a seven-game winning streak. It is the second time this season that the Broncs have reeled off more than three straight victories. The seven-game winning streak marks the most consecutive wins for Rider since the team had a nine-game winning streak during the 2016-17 season.
Â
- Rider shot a season-high 54.8 percent (34-of-62) from the field in the win over Quinnipiac last time out. It was the best field-goal percentage for the team since Rider hit over 56 percent of its shots in a win over Saint Peter's last February. It marked the second consecutive game and the third time this season that the Broncs have hit over 50 percent of their shots. As a team, Rider is shooting over 43 percent from the field this season.
Â
-
Amari Johnson has a MAAC-leading seven double-doubles this season. Versus Niagara,
Stella Johnson recorded her first double-double of the year as she scored 31 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. It was the first game this season in which two Broncs had a double-double.

It marked the first time in program history that a Bronc was named the USBWA National Player of the Week and also the first time a player from the MAAC picked up the weekly accolade as well. Stella is one of just two active players in all of Division I, along with Princeton's Bella Alarie, to be have earned both USBWA National Player of the Week and USBWA National Freshman of the Week honors in their careers.
Â
-
Stella Johnson set a single-game program record with 41 points in the victory over Lipscomb on November 22. The previous record for points in game by a Bronc was 37 by both MyNeshia McKenzie and Nancy Carroll. She was the first player in the MAAC to score over 40 points since Victoria Rampado had 41 against Siena in January of 2018.

Stella Johnson was named to the Women's Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on November 6th. Johnson is one of 50 players in the nation and just two players from mid-major programs to earn a spot on the list. In late October, Johnson was also named one of 20 watch-list candidates for the 2020 Nancy Lieberman Award as announced by The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). She was also named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List by the USBWA on December 5.
