Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Four Field Hockey Players Score in a Victory at Saint Francis

Sophomore Tess van Ommeren scored her second goal of the season in the win

LORETTO, PA – Four different players scored to push the Rider University field hockey team past Saint Francis University, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at DoGol Field.

The Broncs (6-2) won their fourth game in a row, while the Red Flash (3-7) saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.

Sophomore Carly Brosious (Drexel Hill, PA/Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast) paced the Bronc offensive onslaught with two goals and an assist. Both of her tallies came in the fourth quarter to help the guests pull away.

Sophomore Julia Divorra (Terrassa, Spain/Vedruna Vall) potted the game-winning goal in the victory as her marker in the second quarter gave Rider a 2-0 lead at the time.

The Broncs opened the second half strong as sophomore Tess Van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/ Sint Nicolaas Lyceum) scored just two minutes into the third quarter. The goal was her second this season and her seventh career goal as a Bronc as she gave Rider a two-goal advantage at 3-1.

In the cage for Rider, junior Lena Vandam (Brasschaat, Belgium) turned aside nine shots to earn her sixth victory of the fall.

NOTES & QUOTES
"Today's game was not as easy as the score indicates. St. Francis played an up-temo, dangerous style and we needed to make adjustments to neutralize their speed down the field. Sierra Giuliano played her best game this season and Tess Coorens, Kaitlyn Flemming and Lena held our defense together." – Rider Head Coach Lori Hussong

"Carly and Julia worked so hard on the other side of the 50. It was great to see Tess van Ommeren and Jade get in the scoring column today as well. We were really proud of our team as they are learning how to fight hard together." – Hussong
