WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- All regular-season home games in 2018-19 will be carried on either ESPN3 or ESPN+. Road games only will be carried on 107.7 The Bronc. No radio broadcasts for home games will be provided.
- hOURglass rivals Rider and Monmouth are playing for the 47th time in the series history with the Hawks holding a 29-17 advantage. Monmouth won the only meeting between the two teams last season in West Long Branch. However, the Broncs have won four of the last five meetings. Under Head Coach
Lynn Milligan, Rider is 9-5 against the Hawks.
- Rider defeated Monmouth, 55-43, earlier this season in West Long Branch. In the game, the Broncs held Monmouth to just 11 percent (2-of-18) shooting from three-point range. The Hawks did not hit their first three-pointer in the game until midway through the fourth quarter. Rider forced 20 Monmouth turnovers in the win and the Broncs took a season-high 26 free-throw attempts. Leading the way for Rider in the win was
Stella Johnson with 15 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. Off the bench,
Mia Farmer scored a career-high 11 points for the Broncs thanks to hitting 2-of-3 shots from beyond the arc.
- The Hawks enter Thursday's contest with a 8-12 overall record and 4-5 mark in conference play after erasing a 10-point deficit to defeat Fairfield, 73-63, last Sunday on the road. At home, Monmouth has won two of their last three league tilts. Entering the week, Monmouth leads the MAAC in rebounding with over 40 per game as a team. Offensively, Sierra Green leads the way for the Hawks with over 15 points per game. She is shooting 36 percent from three-point range and has knocked down 70 three-pointers this year. Guard Rosa Graham is second in the MAAC in steals per game and post Erica Balman is second in the conference in blocks per game.
- Last time out, Rider saw its five-game road conference winning streak come to an end at Quinnipiac as the Bobcats topped the Broncs, 72-56. Quinnipiac took a six-point lead at 37-31 into the half as Rider saw of their four of their five starters pick up two fouls apiece during the first 15 minutes of action. The Bobcat lead would balloon to 18 early in the fourth frame. Offensively,
Stella Johnson led the charge for the Broncs with a game-high 22 points.
- At Quinnipiac, Rider was 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. It marked the second straight game in which the Broncs converted on 80 percent of their free-throw attempts. Senior point guard
Lexi Posset currently ranks third in the MAAC in free-throw shooting, knocking down 81 percent (47-of-58) of her attempts. Rider hit a season-best 19 shots from the charity stripe in the first meeting with Monmouth.
- Rider had 16 assists on 21 made field goals at Quinnipiac. It was the sixth straight game in which the Broncs had 10 or more dimes as a team. Versus the Bobcats,
Lexi Posset had five assists, while
Amari Johnson and
Daija Moses each added three assists apiece. Rider is averaging over 13 assists per game this year.
