WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Rider University field hockey team fell on the road to hOUrglass rival Monmouth, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at So Sweet A Cat Field. Â

The Broncs (7-3) saw their five-game winning streak come to an end, while the Hawks (7-4) scored their second victory in a row.

After a Rider goal was called back in the second quarter, Monmouth took advantage with a pair of goals midway through the second quarter. The markers would be the only tallies during the first 30 minutes of play as the host Hawks took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Early in the quarter, Monmouth stretched their lead to four with a pair of strikes off penalty corners.

Freshman
Sierra Giuliano (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Regional) got the guests on the board with her first career goal. Off a penalty corner in the fourth quarter,
Julia Divorra (Terrassa, Spain/Vedruna Vall) saw her shot turned aside by the Monmouth keeper before Giuliano cashed in the rebound.
