Volleyball Rallies to Defeat Siena on Sunday

Rider improved to 8-4 in MAAC play with the 3-1 road win

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Three different players recorded 10 or more kills as the Rider University volleyball team defeated host Siena, 3-1, on the road in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action on Sunday afternoon.

The Broncs (11-13, 8-4 MAAC) completed the regular-season sweep of the Saints (9-13, 4-7 MAAC) thanks to winning by scores of 21-25, 26-24, 25-22 and 25-12.

Freshman Morgan Romano (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty) paced the Rider attack with her eighth double-double of the season. Romano had a match-high 14 kills to go along with 17 digs.

Offensively, freshman Morgan Koch (Bloomington, IL/Central Catholic) had a breakout match for the Broncs with a career-high 13 kills and junior Ali Ward (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) chipped in 10 kills of her own.

In the middle, Anilee Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) registered 46 assists and 10 digs. It was her seventh double-double of the year.

NOTES & QUOTES
"First, it's great to come away from this weekend 2-0. We talked about the importance of these next few weeks and our ability to win on the road. We had a slight emotional letdown in the first set today, after a fiery win yesterday. The team responded very well to that first set, and executed better. I like that we were able to grind out this win, as this speaks to the mettle of this group." – Rider Head Coach Jeff Rotondo

- Rider scored its fifth straight win against Siena.
- The Broncs have swept the regular-season series with the Saints in each of the last two years.
- Rider had 57 kills, six aces, 14 blocks and 75 digs.
- The 14 blocks were  season-high for the Broncs.
- On Tuesday, Morgan Romano was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week for the eighth time this season.
