Four Second-Half Goals Push Field Hockey Past Hofstra in Hempstead

The Broncs erased a 1-0 halftime deficit to score a 4-1 victory on the road

HEMPSTEAD, NY – The Rider University field hockey team scored four second-half goals to earn a 4-1 come-from-behind victory versus Hofstra on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium.

The Broncs (10-4) secured their seventh road win of the fall, while the Pride (6-10) suffered their second loss in a row.

Sophomores Carly Brosious (Drexel Hill, PA/Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast) and Julia Divorra (Terrassa, Spain/Vedruna Vall) led the offensive onslaught for Rider as both players had a goal and an assist apiece.

The first half saw little action as the hosts took a 1-0 edge into halftime.

In the third quarter, Rider erupted for three goals to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Brosious got the Broncs on board as she converted a feed from Divorra to tie the game at one.

Junior Kaitlyn Flemming (Bellmawr, NJ/Triton Regional High School) gave the guests the lead with her second strike in as many games off a penalty corner.

Sophomore Tess van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Sint Nicolaas Lyceum) stretched the Rider lead to 3-1 with a goal off a corner late in the third.

Divorra capped the scoring on the day with a nice individual effort in the fourth frame.
