LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The NCAA has announced that Rider Wrestling redshirt juniors
Anthony Cefolo (Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park Regional) and
Jesse Dellavecchia (Great River, NY/East Islip) are ranked in the first of four coaches' panel rankings for the 2018-19 season. Cefolo comes in at No. 27 at 133, while Dellavecchia is No. 14 at 165.
Both Dellavecchia and Cefolo have been red hot of late, earning EWL Wrestler of the Week in the last two weeks, respectively. Dellavecchia has posted a 17-3 record, while Cefolo is 10-3. The duo is tied for the team lead with four falls apiece.
Most recently, Cefolo pinned Iowa State's Austin Gomez, the nationally-ranked No. 7 wrestler in the country at the time. In the same match, Dellavecchia scored a win by fall over Logan Schumacher. Dellavecchia is 7-0 in dual matches and posted a fourth-place finish at the Southern Scuffle. Cefolo has just one blemish on his 6-1 dual mark, a Dec. 16 setback to Rutgers' Nick Suriano, who's ranked sixth in the coaches' panel.
The Broncs return to action Saturday, when they face Hofstra on the road at noon.
