WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- All regular-season home games in 2018-19 will be carried on either ESPN3 or ESPN+. Road games only will be carried on 107.7 The Bronc. No radio broadcasts for home games will be provided. Chris Mackowiak and Jeff Nolan have the call for Wednesday's tilt with Iona.
- Rider and Iona are playing for the 47th time in the series history with the Gaels holding a 27-19 advantage. The Broncs have had the edge of late, winning each of the last four meetings. Under Head Coach
Lynn Milligan, Rider is 10-13 against Iona. The 10 wins are her third-most against any MAAC opponent.
- The Gaels enter Wednesday's contest with a 1-14 overall record and an 0-4 mark in MAAC play after falling to Niagara last Saturday. Iona is 0-3 at home in conference play this season and the Gaels have won just one of their last 11 home league games. At the start of the week, Iona ranked last in the MAAC in scoring with just under 43 points per contest. Morgan Rachu has started all 15 games for the Gaels and is scoring a team-best 11.9 points per game thanks to hitting a team-best 35 shots from three-point range. Rachu also leads Iona in rebounding with six boards per contest and steals with 26 on the season. In the paint, Tori Lesko has pulled down a team-best 26 offensive rebounds for Iona.
- Last time out,
Stella Johnson and
Amari Johnson combined to score 42 points as Rider defeated Siena, 55-52, on the road on January 13. The win was the third straight for the Broncs as the guests held off a late Saints rally. The game swung in the second quarter when the Broncs outscored Iona, 17-6, and held the Saints to just 18 percent (2-of-11). The Broncs shot a season-best 90 percent (10-of-11) at the foul line, while Siena converted on just 19-of-33 attempts from the charity stripe.
- Rider is 3-0 to start MAAC play for the first time in program history. The previous best start for the Broncs was 2-0 which is how the team started during their historic 2016-17 campaign. Rider is one of two unbeaten teams left in the conference play. Rider is the only program in the MAAC that currently has both their men's and women's basketball teams undefeated.
- Junior guard
Stella Johnson was named the MAAC Player of the Week and the College Sports Madness MAAC Player of the Week on Monday. It marked the fourth time this season that she picked up both accolades in a week. She is the only player in the conference to be named the Player of the Week more than twice this season.
- Rider is now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the MAAC in games decided by five points or fewer. The Broncs have won four straight games decided by two possessions or fewer. Last year, the team was 2-5 in games decided by five points or less with both wins coming in MAAC play.
