Volleyball Ends Weekend With Loss at Canisius

Senior Perry Williams had five kills for the Broncs

BUFFALO, NY – The Rider University volleyball team lost host Canisius, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action. The Broncs fell by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 30-28.

Rider (6-5, 2-2 MAAC) saw their four-match winning streak against the Golden Griffins (5-8, 3-1 MAAC) come to an end.

Offensively, seniors Savannah Logan (Jupiter, FL/Benjamin) and Hailey Riede (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) paced the Rider attack with 11 kills and 10 kills, respectively. Classmate Perry Williams (Portland, OR/Cleveland) added five kills for the Broncs.

In the middle, freshman Anilee Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) continued her strong play with another double-double thanks to 25-assist, 11-dig performance. She has now recorded a double-double in three straight MAAC matches.

On the defensive end, both Sher and junior Rachelle Runyon (Aliso Viejo, CA/Aliso Niguel) contributed 11 digs apiece, while Logan added seven.

NOTES & QUOTES
"It was a disappointing result today. We did not match the same level of intensity that Canisius had from the start of the match. We hurt ourselves with all of our unforced errors, which made it difficult for us to gain any momentum." – Rider Head Coach Chris Feliciano

- Rider had 23 attack errors and seven service errors.
- As a team, the Broncs had 38 kills, 45 digs, two blocks and one service ace.

BRONCS BY THE NUMBERS
- Sher registered her team-leading seventh double-double of the year. She also added one kill and one service ace for the Broncs.
- Riede leads the team in hitting percentage (.277) and kills per set (3.45). It marked her sixth match of the year with 10 or more kills.
- Logan leads the Broncs with 126 kills this season.
- Runyon has recorded 11 or more digs in nine straight matches.
