VILLANOVA, PA – The Rider University men's tennis team enjoyed a successful open to the 2018-19 season Friday, with several victories to begin the Villanova Tournament.
In doubles play,
Griffin Clark (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) and
Nicholas Salazar (Miami, FL/Westminster Christian School) combined on a 6-4 victory over Loyola (Md.)'s Grant Williford and Colin Kanuch. Meanwhile
Lysander Payano Almonte (New Brunswick, NJ/Colegio Quusquey/Rockland C.C.) and
Peter Komosinski combined on a 6-1 win over the Greyhounds' J.J. Good and Nate Ferro.
In addition,
Ryan Ciaccio (Mercerville, NJ/Hamilton North [Nottingham]) and
Javier Melendez's defeated Haverford's Jun Mo and Jackson Trevor, 6-3.
In the Broncs' lone singles action of the day, Payano Almonte defeated Loyola's Good, 2-6, 6-3, 10-8.
The Broncs return to action tomorrow, when Villanova Tournament action continues.
