LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University men's soccer team fell to visiting Lehigh, 1-0, in double overtime on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at Ben Cohen Field.
The Mountain Hawks (3-3) won their third straight road game, while Rider (1-3-1) lost in overtime for the second time this autumn.
With both teams down a man due to red cards, the two squads battled 10-on-10 for most of the second half and the overtime periods.
In the 104th minute, the guests finally broke through as Josh Luchini scored his first marker of the year off a feed from Trevor Koski. Koski sent Luchini in uncontested with a through ball and Luchini finished past Bronc keeper
Pablo Gatinois (Madrid, Spain/Lycee Francais De Madrid) low inside the left post.
Rider's best chance to score came during the first overtime period as sophomore midfielder
Taner Bay (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) fired a cross inside the box to junior
Aaron Robinson (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley). Robinson's leaping shot was turned aside by Lehigh netminder Will Smith.
In goal, Gatinois made a career-high two saves in a losing effort for the Broncs.
