Women's Track & Field Closes Out Action at the ECAC Championships

The Broncs got strong performances from the relay quartets

PRINCETON, NJ – The Rider University women's track and field team closed out action at the 2018 ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Championships on Sunday at Weaver Stadium. The Broncs finished in 31st overall in the 45-team event with 10 total points.

Senior Sara Gardner (Holland Township, NJ/Delaware Valley) continued her strong end of season run with an All-East Performance in the 100m hurdles. She landed in second-place to bring home a silver medal with a time of 13.72 in the championship heat. It marked her final tune up before the NCAA Championships in the event.

The Bronc 4x400 relay quartet of freshman Joshonda Johnson (Galloway, NJ/Absegami), senior Victoria Brewer (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem), sophomore Nicole Berry (Berlin, NJ/Winslow Township) and sophomore Moriah Hall (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) ran a strong race. They finished 22nd overall at 3:55.55.

The Rider 4x800 relay of Berry, Brewer, freshman Paris Boucher (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional) and sophomore Katie Ward (Old Bridge, NJ/Mother Seton) just missed earning All-East honors with a 12th-place finish in a time of 9:10.65.

QUTOES
"We had a really nice day today. Two individual and one relay All East performances closed out the meet in a great way." – Rider Head Coach Bob Hamer

"Sara had another great race. The conditions were not great today, but she just steps up and gets the job done every time. She is so focused on being successful right now that nothing detracts from her performance. She is really excited for the NCAA First Round." – Hamer

"The women's 4x800 and 4x400 ran very strong races today. The last few years we have struggled to race well in those events and these women have completely turned it around. Brewer has been a big part of that. I'm really happy that she has ended her career with two big meets. She has worked very hard and it always has not worked out. However she kept plugging away and it really worked out for her." – Hamer
