Wrestling Recruiting Class Ranked #22 in Nation by Intermat

Gissendanner, Wright recognized as Top 100 recruits

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University wrestling team's 2018-19 is ranked No. 22 in the country by Intermat, the website today announced.

"Recruiting is everything in college athletics," said Rider Head Coach John Hangey. "If you don't have the talent in the room, you can't win on match day. This recruiting class was critical due to the seniors we graduated and their success and experience. This class is very good on paper and we look for them to make an impact in our program immediately."

Headlining the class is Frankie Gissendanner (Penfield, NY/Penfield), who Intermat ranks No. 2 in the nation at 145 pounds. Gissendanner, a four-time New York State Champion with a 267-11 career record, is also a Cadet Freestyle National Champion.

Another nationally-ranked incoming recruit is Chris Wright (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin), currently ranked No. 13 in the nation at 126 pounds by Intermat. A four-time Pennsylvania AAA State place winner, Wright finished second in his senior year and is a Beast of the East runner up.

Both Gissendanner and Wright are ranked amongst the Top 100 recruits at all weights by Intermat. Gissendanner is No. 29, while Wright is No. 83.

Rounding out the class are four-time New Jersey place winner at 152 pounds and 2018 third-place winner Joe Casey (Bound Brook, NJ/Bound Brook), 2018 New Jersey third-place finisher Bryan Martin (Monroe Township, NJ/Williamstown), two-time New Jersey place winner at 120 pounds Richie Koehler (Lincroft, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) and three-time Pennsylvania Star Qualifier and Flonationals place winner Quentin Milliken (Lewistown, PA/Trinity), who finished seventh at 160 pounds.
