Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Races Past Robert Morris on Saturday

Stevie Jordan had a team-high 17 points to go along with six assists

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Junior point guard Stevie Jordan (Bensalem, PA/Conwell-Egan/API) scored a team-high 17 points to go along with six assists, five steals and five rebounds to lead the Rider University men's basketball team past visiting Robert Morris, 69-50, on Saturday afternoon inside Alumni Gymnasium in non-conference action.

With their third straight win at home to open the year the Broncs improved to 4-3 on the season, while the Colonials suffered their fourth straight loss to move to 4-7 overall.

Rider jumped out to an early, 9-1 edge. After Robert Morris opened the scoring with a free throw just over 20 seconds into play, the Broncs responded with a 9-0 run over the next four minutes capped by a trey from Jordan. Rider would never trail again in the contest as the hosts took a 36-23 edge into the break.

In the second half, Rider stretched its lead to 17 at 47-30 courtesy of a quick 7-0 spurt in which redshirt sophomore guard Jordan Allen (Dover, DE/Dover) poured in five points. The Bronc lead would swell to as many as 24 late in the contest following a three-pointer from Allen with just under five minutes to play.

Stevie Jordan and Jordan Allen were the two Broncs in double figures. Allen added 11 points off the bench thanks to hitting a pair of shots from three-point range. Redshirt sophomore Frederick Scott (Munster, IN/Simeon) added nine points off the bench for the hosts on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting from the field.

NOTES & QUOTES
"First of all, I thought our guys did an unbelievable job. I don't care what we scored, on the defensive end our guys pressured them. We defended in the half-court and in the full-court press. Our guys did exactly what we asked them too. We are getting better. Guys are communicating better and we are playing better as a team." – Rider Head Coach Kevin Baggett

"That's what we're looking for on the defensive end. Obviously we aren't going to cause 29 turnovers every night, but the pressure and constant communication is what I'm looking for. We still need to do a better job on the free-throw line. Stevie and Kimar are doing a great job of leading the team." – Baggett
