Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Washington State Defeats Men's Basketball, 94-80

Allen scores 24, hits seven three-pointers

PULLMAN, WA – Redshirt sophomore guard Jordan Allen (Dover, DE/Dover) matched his career-high with seven three-point field goals made and scored a team-high 24 points, but the Rider University men's basketball team fell at Washington State, 94-80, in a Las Vegas Classic contest Monday night at Beasley Coliseum. The Cougars turned a 22-15 Rider lead into a 14-point lead with a 23-2 first-half run to improve to 6-3. The loss evens the Broncs' record at 4-4.

After Rider built its largest lead of the game, 22-15, on a Tyere Marshall (Philadelphia, PA/Martin Luther King/Putnam Science) free throw at the 10:27 mark of the first half, Washington State went on a 23-2 run from which Rider couldn't bounce back. WSU extended its lead to as many as 21 with 16:53 left in regulation, and in spite of an 8-0 Rider run, maintained a 19-point lead with 11:36 remaining.

Rider compiled another 8-0 run and cut the deficit to seven with 2:40 left, but could draw no closer.

Quotes & Notes
"Where do I begin? It really started on the defensive end. The breakdowns, the lack of defense, the lack of keeping guys in front – when I thought we took a step forward the last two games, we took another step back again. When you score 80 points, it's not the offense. We missed some, we missed layups, we missed free throws, we missed bunnies, we turned the ball over on fast breaks. But at the end of the day, we couldn't stop them and this is why we lose again." – Rider Head Coach Kevin Baggett

- The game was the first in the all-time series between Rider and Washington State.
- Tonight's game was the first in a four-game, three-city, two time zone road trip in which Rider will travel 8,731 miles in the Las Vegas Classic.
- The Broncs return to action Wednesday, when they travel to Drake. Tip from Des Moines, Iowa, is scheduled for 8 p.m. (ET)/7 p.m. (CT) on ESPN+.

- Stevie Jordan (Bensalem, PA/Conwell-Egan/API) and Dimencio Vaughn (New York, NY/Callaway/The Masters School) also chipped in with 11 points apiece to give Rider five in double-figures scoring for the third time in the last five games.
