LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University men's soccer graduate student forward
Elliott Otmani (La Ciotat, France/Bonaparte) has been selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® 2 First Team, the organization today announced. The teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games, completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
While graduating with a 3.62 grade-point average as a human resources management major and pursuing his masters in athletic leadership, Otmani earned his third All-MAAC honor with Second-Team recognition this year. The 2017 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America First Team selection was named to the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List this preseason. He leads the Broncs with nine assists and 21 points. His six goals rank second on the team. He contributed the game-winning goal against Niagara and has had a goal or assist in all seven of the Broncs' wins against MAAC foes this season. For his career, he's now scored 29 goals and dished out 21 assists, ranking eighth and sixth, respectively, in program history.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December. The Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. District 2 consists of Washington, D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey and West Virginia.
