Women's Basketball Signs Three For 2019-2020

The three incoming freshmen will join the team next season

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Rider University women's basketball Head Coach Lynn Milligan has announced the written commitment of three student-athletes for the 2019-2020 academic year. Victoria Toomey (Dunmore, PA/Dunmore High School), Dajahnae Brannon (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg High School SciTech Campus) and Sophia Demauro (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Academy) have all signed their National Letters of Intent and will be joining the Broncs next season.

"Recruiting is a year-long process that never ends," Milligan said. "We are always looking for the players we believe will represent RIDER in the best way. This year's class is no exception. All three of these young ladies are winners and will bring a special aspect to our program. They are terrific players and even better young ladies. They embody what we are looking for in #RiderHEART."

VICTORIA TOOMEY
Toomey is a 6-2 left-handed center that has been a solid contributor for the varsity basketball team at Dunmore High School over the last four years. In 2018, she earned PIAA Second Team All-State honors and she was also named the Scranton Times Regional Player of the Year as a junior. She was selected as a Lackawanna League First Team All-Star and was the Lynett Tournament MVP in 2017 and 2018. Her team has won the league championship three straight years and they were also the District 2 Champs last year.

"Victoria is a very skilled post player who will bring us instant depth and versatility to our post game.  Her length and skill level will be an added dimension to her game that will translate well to our system."

DAJAHNAE BRANNON
Brannon is a 5-9 guard that has been a key member of the varsity basketball team at Harrisburg High School SciTech Campus over the last four seasons. She has already scored over 1,000 points in her career. She earned First Team All-State honors and was tabbed as her squad's MVP. Her team captured a district and a conference championship during her tenure.

"Dajahnae is a very strong, athletic guard who can score the ball. She has the scoring mentality we like. She is a versatile player who can help us in many different ways."

SOPHIA DEMAURO
DeMauro is a 5-9 combo guard who has starred on the varsity basketball team at Staten Island Academy for four years. She was a two-sport star in high school, also playing shortstop for the varsity softball team. Her team captured the Class A NYS Federation Championship in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, she was named the Staten Island Academy Most Valuable Player, named to the NYS Federation All-Tournament Team, was tabbed as a NYS Sportswriters Assoc. All-State Second Team and was the Jaques Award Winner, for Staten Island Basketball Player of the Year. She played AAU for Exodus EYB and as a junior she averaged over 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists per game.
