Dimencio Vaughn (New York, NY/Callaway/The Masters School) had a team-high 19 points and
Jordan Allen (Dover, DE/Dover) added 18 as the Rider University men's basketball team cruised past Coppin State, 87-67, in the Broncs' home opener Monday night at Alumni Gym. With the win, the Broncs even their record at 1-1, while the Eagles are now 0-5.
After Coppin State built an early 11-5 lead, the Broncs would score 19 of the next 20 points to build a double-digit lead that it wouldn't relinquish. Rider's full-court pressure forced Coppin State into 20 turnovers, with the Broncs enjoying a 26-11 edge in points off turnovers for the game.
Rider's lead would swell to as many as 24 points late in the second half. Allen buried three of his four three-pointers in the second half and Vaughn made 5-of-7 field-goal attempts in the second stanza.
