WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- All regular-season home games in 2018-19 will be carried on either ESPN3 or ESPN+. Road games only will be carried on 107.7 The Bronc. No radio broadcasts for home games will be provided.
- The Crusaders were picked to finish sixth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll. Holy Cross went 13-18 overall in 2017-18 and they posted a 7-11 mark in conference play. The Crusaders return three starters from last season, highlighted by Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year Lauren Manis. She averaged 17.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game in 2017-2018, while connecting on 82.8 percent of her free throw attempts (149 of 180). Manis led the Patriot League in scoring. Other returners to keep an eye for the Crusaders are sophomore guard Jenay Faulkner and junior guard Madlyn Smith, who knocked down over 41 percent of her shots from three-point range last winter.
- Holy Cross has won all three meetings between the two teams. Last season's contest was the first between Rider and the Crusaders since the 2000-01 campaign.Â
- Last time out, the Broncs fell on the road to Vermont, 54-49, on Friday evening in Burlington. The Catamounts erased a late, seven-point deficit by closing the game on a 14-2 run over the last 3:20 of play. Rider missed its last six field-goal attempts and their lone points down the stretch came at the charity stripe. In the fourth quarter, Rider was 6-of-17 from the field, while the Catamounts converted 7-of-9 shot attempts. Â
- Rider will be facing a team making its 2018-19 debut for the third straight contest. Rider took on Princeton in the opening night of action of the season. On Friday, Vermont started its campaign versus the Broncs in Burlington. Sunday's tilt will mark the first time the Crusaders are taking the floor this season.
- Rider has a packed non-conference schedule in the early portion of the season. After facing the two-time defending Ivy League champion Princeton Tigers, the Broncs will face opponents from the A10 (Saint Joseph's) and Big EAST (Georgetown). Rider will face one team that played in last year's NCAA Tournament (Princeton) and four squads that appeared in the WNIT (Saint Joseph's, Navy, Bucknell and Georgetown).
- Junior
Stella Johnson was stellar for the Broncs once again versus Vermont on Friday. She scored a game-high 23 points on 10-of-24 shooting to go along with five rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block. It was her second game as a team captain. It marked her fourth straight game dating back to last season's MAAC Tournament with 20 or more points for Rider.
- Junior
Lea Favre pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds on Friday at Vermont. Five of those were offensive rebounds, while Vermont had just four offensive rebounds as a team. It was her third game in the last two years with 10 or more rebounds for the Broncs.
- Sophomore
Daija Moses scored a career-high nine points for Rider against the Catamounts on Friday. She hit a college-best four shots from the field in a career-high 24 minutes played. Moses knocked down her first career three-pointer at UVM and also tied a career-high with two blocked shots.
