LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's swimming and diving team started the 2018-19 season with a 170-126 setback to in-state rival Seton Hall in dual-match action on Saturday afternoon at Coppola Pool.
The Pirates (1-0) edged the Broncs (0-1) to start the season for the second year in a row.
Freshman
Kylie McMahon (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) had a strong debut in the pool for the hosts. She won both the 100 fly and 200 fly, while adding a second-place in the 200 individual medley. She posted a time of 2:08.07 in the 200 fly and a time of 58.35 in the 100 fly. She ended up at 2:13.24 in the 200 IM.
Freshman
Kayla May (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) saw success in her collegiate debut with a win in the 100 back thanks to posting a time of 59.21.
Freshman
Kyra Schwerzler (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) rounded out the winners for the Bronc swimmers on Saturday. She finished first in the 100 breast with a mark of 1:07.65.
Rider got strong performances from their divers as well. Senior
Breanne Hatter (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown HS South) won the 1M dive with a score of 247.19 and junior
Meg Tomayko (Murfreesboro, TN/Siegel) landed in second in the event with a score of 227.10. In the 3M dive, Tomayko ended up in second-place with a score of 226.80.
BRONCS BY THE NUMBERS
- Taylor Stalnker came in second in the 100 back with a time of 59.26.

Olivia Iswalt landed in second-place in both the 100 free with a time of 26.50 and the 50 free at 24.95.

Anastasia Aleksandrova finished in second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:11.92.

Kayla May also racked up a second-place finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:09.42.

Kyra Schwerzler also finished in second in the 200 breast with a mark of 2:30.09.
UP NEXT
Rider returns to action next Saturday, October 13, with a home dual match against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponent Siena that is scheduled to get underway at 1:00 pm. Last season, the Broncs defeated the Saints, 160-134, in Loudonville.
