HAMDEN, CT – The Rider University women's tennis team fell to five-time defending MAAC Champion Quinnipiac, 7-0, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs even their record at 3-3 (1-1 MAAC).
Playing with just five players, the Broncs fell at both doubles flights.
Angelica Garcia (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) and
Cyd Melendez (Cayey, Puerto Rico/Colegio La Merced) fell to Jennifer Lu and Payton Bradley, 6-2, at No. 1, while
Amanda Binder (Princeton, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro North) and
Vanessa Canda (Jersey City, NJ/McNair Academic) were defeated, 6-3, by Layla Rodriguez and Kamilla Nella at No. 2.
Quinnipiac took the five singles flights that were contested by straight sets. The Broncs took no more than two games in any match.
Rider returns to action Sunday, when it plays host to Siena at 1 p.m.
