LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ –
Angelica Garcia (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) and
Amanda Binder (Princeton, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro North) won at Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively, but the Rider University women's tennis team fell to Siena, 5-2, Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 3-4 (1-2 MAAC), while the Saints are now 2-0 (1-0 MAAC).
The Saints swept the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 and the Broncs, playing with just five players, forfeiting at No. 3. Garcia defeated Anessa Leyva, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 3, while Binder took a 7-6, 6-2, win over Ann Phillips at No. 4. But the Saints took the remaining four singles flights for the 5-2 match victory.
Rider returns to action Tuesday, when it plays host to Fairfield at 2 p.m.
