HAMDEN, CT – Freshman
Peter Komosinski (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Laurel Springs) came within a game of a win at No. 3 singles, but the Rider University men's tennis team fell at perennial MAAC power Quinnipiac, 7-0, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs even their record at 1-1 (0-1 MAAC), while the Bobcats won their dual opener.
Komosinski also paired with
Lysander Payano Almonte (New Brunswick, NJ/Colegio Quusquey/Rockland C.C.) to push Axel Stern and Aleksa Martinovic, 7-5, at the top doubles flight. The Bobcats took Nos. 2 and 3 doubles by 6-0 and 6-1 scores.
Komosinski then pushed Patrick Cachapero to the brink at No. 3 singles, but fell, 7-6, 3-6, 7-5. He led, 5-4, in the third set.
Javier Melendez (Cayey, Puerto Rico/Colegio La Merced) came closest to another singles win, but fell to Martinovic, 6-1, 6-3.
The Broncs return to action tomorrow, when they play host to Siena at 1 p.m.
