Perry Williams (Portland, OR/Cleveland) and junior middle
Evelyn Shanefield (Drexel Hill, PA/Upper Darby) combined for five solo blocks and 10 block assists to lead the Rider University volleyball team past host Siena, 3-0, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action on Sunday afternoon.
The Broncs (14-9, 9-5 MAAC) won their sixth straight match and completed the regular-season sweep of the Saints (2-24, 1-13 MAAC0) after also topping Siena, 3-0, earlier this autumn in Lawrenceville. Rider won by scores of 25-14, 25-23 and 25-18 to earn their fifth MAAC victory in a row.Â
Leading the charge offensively for Rider was senior
Hailey Riede (Haworth, NJ/Northern-Valley Demarest). She had a match-high 10 kills and an impressive .500 hitting percentage to go along with two block assists. Williams added six kills at the net and a .400 hitting percentage. Â Â
In the middle, freshman setter
Anilee Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) continued her strong play on both sides of the ball. Sher dished out 23 assists, while adding two digs and two block assists.
At the net, Williams accounted for 11 points with her six skill and seven total blocks (1 BS, 6 BA). Shanefield had one of her strongest matches of the fall with two kills and eight total blocks (4 BS, 4 BA).
On the defensive end, junior libero
Rachelle Runyon (Aliso Viejo, CA/Aliso Niguel) had another solid match for the Broncs with 12 digs. Sophomore

- Rider had 47 points, 27 kills, 44 assists, five service aces, 15 total blocks and 38 digs.
- Rider tied a season-high with 15.0 total blocks. It was their fourth such match this fall with 15 blocks. The Broncs are 3-1 in those matches.
- Rider took advantage of 30 Siena attack errors, three ball-handling errors, and eight Saint service errors.
- Rider has won three of its last four matches against Siena.

- Runyon had 10 or more digs for the 21st straight match. In her last three matches she is averaging 5.36 digs per set. Â Â Â

- Riede had 10 or more kills for the 13th match this autumn. She did so for the fifth time in her last six matches.

UP NEXT
Rider returns to action next weekend, November 3-4, with a pair of home conference clashes against Manhattan and Iona. The Broncs open up versus the Jaspers on Saturday at noon before taking on the Gaels on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Sunday's match will be televised on ESPN+ and the Broncs will honor their three seniors for the their contributions to the program over the last four years.
