Lawrenceville, NJ – The Rider University women's volleyball team won its second straight home match, topping visiting Delaware State, 3-0, on Friday evening in non-conference action at Alumni Gymnasium. The Broncs topped the Hornets by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-14.

Rider (8-9, 2-3 MAAC) defeated Delaware State (0-14) in the first between the two since 2014.

Offensively, junior Hailey Riede (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) led the Bronc attack with 11 kills and an impressive .579 hitting percentage, while senior Jennifer Borio (Ridley Park, PA/Padua Academy) chipped in seven kills and a .583 attack percentage. Both of those attack percentages for Riede and Borio were season-highs.  In the middle, senior setter Veronica Koval (Allentown, PA/Parkland) had 27 assists for the Broncs.

Senior tri-captain Emma Aldaya (Prospect Park, PA/Merion Mercy Academy) led the defensive effort with 14 digs, while sophomore Rachelle Runyon (Aliso Viejo, CA/Aliso Niguel) added nine digs of her own. Freshmen Brynn Sherbert (Temecula, CA/Great Oak) and Danielle Blanco (El Paso, TX/Franklin) both contributed eight digs apiece for the Broncs.

At the net, sophomore Evelyn Shanefield (Drexel Hill, PA/Upper Darby) had two solo blocks. It marked her second match in a row with at least two solo blocks.

Notes & Quotes
"I think in the first set we came out a little flat," Rider Head Coach Chris Feliciano said. "To their credit they played better in set two and set three was probably the best we've seen them play this season. We served tough and controlled the ball. We were able to create a lot of one-on-one situations because our first touch was really good. Anytime you hit over .400 as a team you're going to win."

- Rider had 40 kills, 37 assists and 46 digs.
- The Broncs are 4-1 at home this season and 5-1 inside the Garden State.
- The Broncs are now 7-0 all-time versus the Hornets.
- Rider has won five matches in three sets in 2017.
- The Broncs took advantage of 22 Delaware State attack errors and 10 Hornet service errors.

Broncs by the Numbers
