Rider Drops Non-Conference Contest at Fordham

Broncs fall to the Rams, 3-1, as part of the Rose Hill Classic

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Rider University volleyball team lost on the road Fordham, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Rose Hill Gym as part of the Rose Hill Classic. The Broncs (2-4) dropped their fourth straight contest away from home, falling to the Rams (5-1) by scores of 25-19, 18-25, 25-8, 25-23.

As a team, Rider had 31 kills and took advantage of 24 Fordham attack errors. Offensively, junior Perry Williams (Portland, OR/Cleveland) led the Rider attack with seven kills, while junior Hailey Riede (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) and senior Jennifer Borio (Ridley Park, PA/Padua Academy) each chipped in six kills apiece.

Defensively, Rider had nine total blocks and 50 digs. Leading the way for the squad at the net were Willaims, Evelyn Shanefield (Drexel Hill, PA/Upper Darby)  and freshman Meredith Pellegrino (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon) with two total blocks apiece, while junior Savannah Logan (Jupiter, FL/Benjamin) had a team-best 14 digs.

Notes & Quotes
"We switched up our lineup today and we showed in certain moments of the match what we potentially could be," Rider Head Coach Chris Feliciano said. "We did a great job in the fourth set recovering from a poorly played third set. Moving forward we need for our outside to be more productive for us to win. They have the ability they just need to put it together."

"Our discipline, while better today, doomed us in the end as we couldn't maintain our lead in the fourth set," Feliciano added.
